Hush
HUSH, a formally trained artist with five years of study at the Newcastle School of Art and Design, transitioned to painting after an impactful career as an art director in the Far East. His artistic journey bridges the vibrant energy of street art with the refined atmosphere of gallery exhibitions. HUSH has gained international acclaim, with sold-out shows such as Fatales at Lazarides in London, Unseen at Corey Helford in Los Angeles, and Sirens at Metro Gallery in Melbourne. His collaborations include a collection with luxury watchmaker Hublot, and in 2008, The Independent featured him in their list of “Twenty Up-and-Coming Artists.”
HUSH’s distinctive style centers on the female form, set against expressive, multi-layered backgrounds that seamlessly blend tradition and experimentation. His work harmonizes the serene discipline of classical painting with the dynamic spontaneity of graffiti and action painting. This synthesis creates a visual rhythm that feels both deliberate and organic.
Tagging inspired, mark-making, gestural strokes, and splashes of vibrant paint infuse his work with the raw texture of street art. Through a meticulous process involving painting, screen printing, and spray-painting, HUSH develops visually arresting compositions. Geometric patterns, floral designs, and motifs reminiscent of royal tapestries and ornamental vases emerge from his pieces, often merging with the figures. These elements create a captivating interplay where body and background flow together, blurring boundaries and immersing the viewer in a kaleidoscope of color and form.
Over the past 15 years, HUSH has exhibited extensively in prestigious galleries worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, London, Basel, San Francisco, Paris, and Berlin. His work continues to captivate audiences and affirm his position as a leading figure in contemporary art.
