Words from Sarah Graham... "Prior to this piece I had only ever painted dolls house miniatures of sundaes, for this commission the client wanted the real thing. So I turned to my local Gelato Parlour ‘Fabio’s’ who opened especially for me late one night and helped create the sundae for the shoot. Photographing ice cream under hot lights wasn’t easy so I had to work super fast! I was so happy with the finished painting, in particular the chocolate sauce just about to drip from the edge of the glass. Food is definitely a subject I plan to explore more, as with my sweets it sits perfectly in terms of the nostalgia it evokes, along with pleasure. It’s very important to me that my work has this effect and is uplifting."
