Words from Sarah Graham... "Painted in 2012, this image is possibly my most famous piece. I had always dreamed that one day I would get to do album artwork for an amazing band, since creating covers for my friend's bands during my university days. Having seen my work at a gallery in Leeds, lead singer, Ricky Wilson, first approached me in 2008, to paint their third album cover. Sadly this didn't happen for various reasons, but we remained in touch and then in 2012 he text me one day asking how long would it take for me to paint a stick of rock?! I was thrilled to finally get the opportunity to fulfil my ambition! The concept of the band name and album title running through rock was Ricky's idea. As soon as I received the ruby red rock, I knew it had to be set against a brilliant turquoise background. I had just two weeks to paint it, which was a challenge as it was pretty big at 120x80cm, and the day of it's release on June 4th 2012 I had a huge party to celebrate! Not only was it used for the album, but also as the backdrop for gigs and festivals, I saw it blown up huge at Reading festival, which was just awesome!
I love the image, and 10 years on it remains one of my favourite pieces which I am immensely proud of."
