With global representation, Paul Bennett specialises in contemporary landscape, seascape, abstract and portraiture paintings. The various subject matters are all very different, however they all still have a strong sense of style within intimacy and isolation while leaving the artworks open to interpretation for the viewer. The seascape and landscape paintings are created from Paul’s memories rather than from images to produce finished pieces. This way of painting results in more abstracted and expressive artworks than realistic.
Worldwide, Paul’s artworks are found in private and public collections and his main aim is to create work that is most definitely painted; an antidote to mass produced visuals that are consumed every day. This is accomplished by his use of rich textures, multiple layers and brush/palette knife marks. Paul’s paintings tease out more than the eye can see, this draws the viewers into an experience rather than an image that is seen every day.
In 2001, Paul graduated with BA Honours in Fine Art Painting and is originally from London. However, he now lives and works in the wild and inspiring Lake District, Cumbria – this is where his main subjects are inspired from. Paul’s artworks are represented by galleries that also sell the works of Picasso, Hirst, Rothko, Matisse, Newman and Warhol, as well as many more revered artists.

Paul Bennett was one of the first artists we contacted when we opened Arkley Fine Art’s doors 4 years ago. Paul’s moody and atmospheric abstract land and seascapes move around the canvas, which initially drew us into his outstanding artworks. Since then, we have seen a healthy increase of over 40% in Paul’s artworks, starting from £1,600 to now £2,350 for his favoured size of 100 x 100 cm. Paul had a fantastic year, he became a bestselling artist of 2021 to a worldwide online art selling platform. There is an ever growing demand with these beautiful abstract pieces and we cannot see this slowing down any time soon.
We are so excited to share that we have 4 brand new fresh originals at Arkley Fine Art. The new paintings ‘Before Dark’ and ‘Last Light II’ were particularly inspired by a recent trip Paul had taken to the West Coast of Scotland, where he explored the remote coastlines and the Inner Hebrides - which is a beautiful insight to these pieces. We absolutely love how the paintings appear different in various lighting conditions, the texture and richness from the oils stand out from the canvas.
